St. Louis man indicted in Alton armed robbery, alleged crime spree

EDWARDSVILLE — A St. Louis man was indicted by a Madison County grand jury for what police called a short “crime spree” including an alleged armed robbery in Alton.

Jesse J. Williams, 35, of St. Louis, was indicted May 14 for armed robbery, a Class X felony; unlawful possession of a stolen motor vehicle, a Class 2 felony; attempted burglary, a Class 3 felony; and aggravated unlawful possession of weapons and criminal damage to property, both Class 4 felonies.

Charges were originally filed on April 27 and were presented by the Alton Police Department…
