St. Louis officials subpoena state-appointed police board after budget hearing snub

ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Board of Aldermen’s Budget and Public Employees Committee on Monday voted to issue a subpoena to the state-appointed St. Louis Board of Police Commissioners after the police board declined to appear before aldermen to present its proposed fiscal 2027 budget.

The committee voted 4-0, with one member, Matt Devoti, voting present, to direct a subpoena requiring the police board to appear before the committee on May 27 to present its spending plan.
