Itameshi brings Italian-Japanese fusion to Broadway, expanding Albany’s dining scene

ALBANY, N.Y. (WRGB) — It’s been less than a year since Itameshi opened its doors on Broadway in Albany, combining Italian and Japanese cuisine in imaginative and delicious dishes.

“It means ‘Italy’ – ITA – ‘meshi’ – Japanese,” Chef and Co-Owner Michael Pietrocola said. “Japanese food is very popular. Italian food is very popular. A lot of the ingredients – ramen noodles, gyoza, ravioli, that kind of thing – so, we kind of just put stuff together and played with it.”

Pietrocola and co-owner David Zheng decided to pair up. The two are already restauranteurs in the Capital Region – the minds behind Tanpopo Ramen and Sake Bar in Albany and Pastina in Delmar…
