AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Augusta community leaders gathered Monday in support of SPLOST 9 ahead of Tuesday’s primary vote, urging voters to support a continuation of the one cent sales tax.
The budget proposal is $750 million to be used across Richmond County, including $16 million for Blythe and Hephzibah.
“The results from the vote, is that it? It wins,” said Bennish Brown, president and CEO of Destination Augusta. “Everything in SPLOST 9 will be addressed. Funds are collected for a period of years and then the projects begin to start. So the good news is, once that vote is passed, everything in that SPLOST 9 will take place.”…
