Columbia County, NY (WRGB) — A late-night confined space rescue at Merlin’s Cave in Canaan brought a wide network of regional responders together after a man became trapped underground.
Canaan Fire said Red Rock Volunteer Fire Company and Chatham Rescue Squad Inc. were dispatched by Columbia County NY 911 at 6:39 p.m. May 17 to a confined space rescue at the Merlin’s Cave site in Canaan. The initial dispatch reported a male was stuck in a cave and had been there for about one hour.
