TBI: More than 1,500 pounds of meth seized in Dickson County

DICKSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Four people were arrested and charged in connection with a drug operation after authorities seized more than 1,500 pounds of methamphetamine in Dickson County.

A Tuesday press release from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said that agents identified and searched a semi-truck and trailer with Texas plates on May 15 in Dickson County and discovered the drugs. Later, authorities discovered the methamphetamine — which had been hidden on pallets and disguised to look like alfalfa pellets — was being transported from Mexico to Tennessee.

Multiple search warrants were executed in Nashville, which the TBI said led to the discovery of a new and unused, but functional, crystal methamphetamine conversion laboratory. Agents also seized eight pounds of crystal methamphetamine and two firearms. Additionally, four people were arrested:

  • Deisy James, 27, was charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute more than 300 grams of methamphetamine. Bond was set at $250,000.
  • Demetrio Olvera Orozco, 31, was charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute more than 300 grams of methamphetamine. Bond was set at $250,000.
  • Rury Arellano Castrejon, 40, was charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute more than 300 grams of methamphetamine. Bond was set at $250,000.
  • Enrique Andrade Rangel, 24, was charged with property theft, possession of a weapon with intent to go armed and driving on a suspended license. No bond was set.

Several law enforcement agencies collaborated with the TBI, including the Metro Nashville Police Department’s Specialized Investigations Division, the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s Special Operations and Aviation unit, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Dickson Police Department, the Dickson County Sheriff’s Office, the Dickson Special Response Team, the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, the La Vergne Police Department, the U.S. Army’s Criminal Investigations Division, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the White Bluff Police Department and the McEwen Police Department.
