A 74-year-old resident of the Village of Silver Lake was arrested on a drunk driving charge after allegedly running a stop sign and driving his SUV into a yard.
Ted John Skolits was taken into custody on Sunday evening by a Lady Lake police officer.
The arrest stems from a traffic stop at about 8:55 p.m. when an officer observed a brown Hyundai SUV traveling west on Jason Drive fail to stop at the intersection of Shay Boulevard. When the officer activated his emergency lights, the vehicle veered off the roadway, drove into a yard at the corner of Royal Palm Avenue, and rounded the turn through the grass before finally coming to a halt.
The officer noted the aroma of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle, according to the arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.
