Cool weather continues through week, warmup returns for holiday weekend

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A cool pattern will keep temperatures below normal through Friday following a cold front that moved through the region. Frost is possible tonight in northeast Nebraska, and rain chances will increase Wednesday night through Friday. However, the Memorial Day weekend is shaping up to be much warmer with highs climbing back into the 80s.

Tonight and Wednesday: Frost Advisory and Light Rain

A Frost Advisory is in place for northeast Nebraska through early Wednesday morning as temperatures dip into the low to mid 30s across northern areas.

Southern Nebraska will see lows in the low to mid 40s. Light winds combined with clear skies tonight will allow temperatures to drop well below normal, especially in low-lying areas where frost formation is most likely.

Wednesday will remain cool as clouds increase and rain moves in from the west. Western Nebraska has the best chance for light rain, with amounts between 0.10″ to 0.50″ possible. Lincoln and eastern Nebraska will see just a 20% chance of rain — and any precipitation would be very light. Temperatures will struggle to reach the upper 50s and low 60s.
