Richland County Council held a special meeting Tuesday evening that put public safety funding and the county’s long-term growth plan under the spotlight, drawing comments from county leaders and residents concerned about how development decisions are being made.
Council took up several items affecting the county’s future, including an estimated $12 million bond aimed at improving fire service infrastructure across Richland County. County leaders said the funding would help maintain and repair facilities, equipment and other critical needs for first responders.
“Roughly about 12 million dollars, depends on the sale, but the idea behind that is to raise money that we can use to support the fire service both here in Richland County as a whole, as well as the joint relationship with the Columbia Richland Fire Department,” Richland County Administrator Leonardo Brown said…
