MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The former deputy CEO of Memphis Area Transit Authority has filed a lawsuit claiming she was wrongfully terminated while on approved medical leave, and is seeking up to $1 million in damages, along with reinstatement, back pay and benefits.
Bacarra Mauldin’s lawsuit filed in Shelby County Chancery Court comes at a time when MATA continues to face longstanding financial challenges and increased public scrutiny over its management and spending.
According to court documents obtained by WREG, Mauldin alleges she was approved for leave to undergo knee surgery, but was terminated while away from work and “without a chance to respond to allegations.”…
