NORFOLK, Va., (WAVY) — The Norfolk Sheriff’s Office has a new medical clinic in the city jail that will provide advanced care for offenders. The office hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on May 4 to officially open the clinic.
The City of Norfolk invested $1.5 million in this project that will provide six examination rooms, two new dialysis machines, biometric monitors and on-site specialty providers, including optometry, podiatry, physical and occupational therapy and OB/GYN services, according to the sheriff’s office.
The new clinic will also offer telehealth services to provide remote consultations with healthcare providers. According to the sheriff’s office, the Norfolk City Jail will be among the first Virginia correctional facilities to provide this type of technology for offenders…
