Standoff in Sandy Springs leads to multiple charges

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — A Sandy Springs man is facing domestic violence charges in an incident that escalated into a police standoff last week.

According to court documents, officers responded to a domestic dispute in the 6800 block of Glenlake Parkway NE, where the victim reported being held down, assaulted, handcuffed, taped, and tied to a bed with a rope

The woman told police the suspect, Dennis Tyshawn Carter, wanted to look through her phone because he suspected cheating, and that he had a handgun during the incident. She escaped after he left briefly to take one of their children to day care, then called 911 while still partially restrained…
