Voters reject Hoosic Valley school budget, call for a merger

Voters gathered in Schaghticoke on Tuesday to not only vote down a budget but also mourn a beloved school they said is now in its death throes.

The Hoosic Valley Central School District saw record turnout for its budget vote. More than 800 people went to the polls, when the typical turnout is fewer than 400. The budget failed with 62% voting no.
