Hot with Showers and Storms

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Hey! Still hot and slightly humid. Highs today will be in the low to upper 90s. Showers are expected to start around 1/3 PM (in the valley) and intensify later tonight (scattered showers/storms). A few storms could even turn severe. The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded the risk to slight for the northern portions of the viewing area. Highest concern will be damaging wind gusts and spotty large hail. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for Rockingham, Madison, Greene and Culpeper.

Don’t forget the umbrella or your jacket tomorrow – temperatures continue to fall as the front passes. Temperatures could struggle to stay in the 60s during the evening hours.

Rain chances last the rest of this week going into next…so yes, it looks like your Memorial weekend will be a wet one. The good news is the rain is much needed and after it finally stops – totals could be close to 1/3 inches.
