A bright future lies ahead for Alex Desjarlais.
In two days, he’s slated to graduate from Irmo High School. A month later, Desjarlais will depart for basic training at RTC Lakes in Illinois to begin his career in the United States Navy.
Tuesday afternoon at Fort Jackson, Desjarlais and close to 200 fellow seniors were recognized during a Military Honor Cord Ceremony. Sponsored by the S.C. Department of Education, the hour long event attended by family members and supporters served to salute future servicemen like Desjarlais for their commitment and courage in “answering” the call to duty.
