KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Former Kalamazoo Township Treasurer Sherine Miller will not appear on the Aug. 4, 2026 primary ballot.
Miller left her position in March after the board accused her of pervasive misconduct. Her resignation was a part of a separation agreement that included a $110,000 cash payment and two years of health benefits, confirmed by both the township supervisor and Miller.

When Miller announced she wanted to run again for the position she just left, the township told her that violated the separation agreement and that she had until a specific date and time to withdraw her ballot filing; however, she refused. Before deciding to file, she said she consulted her attorney and was told she is not in breach of her agreement.
Kalamazoo County then consulted with state election officials and said Miller would remain on the ballot. But now, Kalamazoo Township Supervisor David Combs told News Channel 3 that a judge established that an elected official who voluntarily resigns cannot be their own successor…
