Woman sentenced to 10 years for 2023 Escambia County hit-and-run that killed Navy vet

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — A 43-year-old Pensacola woman was sentenced to 10 years in state prison for a 2023 Escambia County hit-and-run that killed a 61-year-old bicyclist.

Jessica Hendrickson was sentenced Wednesday for hit-and-run charges stemming from a June 10, 2023, crash on Sorrento Road that killed 22-year Navy veteran Jeff Nichols. She received:

  • 10 years in state prison
  • 2 years of Community Control
  • 18 years’ probation
  • Lifetime license revocation

According to Florida Highway Patrol, Hendrickson hit Nichols from behind with her vehicle as he was riding his bicycle in the early morning hours.

“Nichols was riding on the shoulder of the roadway when the vehicle, driven by Hendrickson, hit him and fled the scene,” FHP says. “Nichols’ daughter was on the phone with him at the time and found her father deceased.”…
