Three months after being confirmed by the city council, Eric Winstrom was sworn in as Pensacola’s next police chief during a May 20 ceremony at City Hall.
Winstrom, tapped by Mayor D.C. Reeves after internal documentation found that rank and file officers were not confident in former chief Eric Randall, has already made his mark on the Pensacola community in just a few months helming the PPD and is working to earn residents’ trust.
“We ask our personnel who interact with the public to treat them the way they would want their family to be treated, so we have to create a culture of family inside the Pensacola Police Department,” said the newly sworn Winstrom from the dais in front of friends, family, colleagues and city officials. “We want Pensacola to be the safest city for everyone’s family, and we want everyone to be proud of our police department; this team is going to work its hardest to make that happen.”…
