Escambia County teacher uses chess to give students lessons beyond the classroom

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — For many, playing a game of chess is a hobby. At Redeemer Lutheran School in Escambia County it’s much more.

Fine arts teacher Terry Hurd is using chess to teach math, etiquette, and critical thinking skills. The students say getting to play chess is a highlight of their day.
