Hillsborough County officials are moving forward with a $249 million upgrade at the intersection of Lithia Pinecrest Road and State Road 39. Congestion there has reached critical levels. The work will feature dual left-turn lanes on both Lithia Pinecrest Road approaches, single left-turn lanes on County Road 39 approaches, and single right-turn lanes spanning all four approaches.
Construction won’t start until 2031 because the project requires land acquisition. County officials say the upgrades are needed to handle continued population growth in the southern area.
