North Texas has a new burger restaurant with a naming history and owner that sound a lot like two other local burger joints — but the new Wayback Burgers in Hickory Creek isn’t affiliated with Jake’s Burgers or Kincaid’s.
Wayback Burgers is a national burger chain that opened in Delaware in 1991 as Jake’s Hamburgers — not to be confused with the 40-year-old DFW chain Jake’s Burgers and Beers founded by Jake Keller, the nephew of Dallas burger restaurateur Jack Keller of Keller’s Drive-In.
The newly-opened Hickory Creek location is operated by franchisee Thomas Kincaid, not to be confused with Fort Worth’s 80-year-old Kincaid’s Burgers.
