Summer is officially here, and the Shreveport festival lineup is stacked.

One of the happiest days of my life each year was always on the last day of school. I can vividly remember tossing those notebooks and and school accessories in the trash on that final day. It was invigorating.

Then I would set my sights on summer and all the wonderful things I would be doing during the months of freedom. My summers were typically spent swimming and playing tennis. In my childhood days, youngsters could ride bikes to the pool or tennis court and play all day with no worries. My parents did not have to fret about something bad happening to me.

I would venture out each day at about 9am and come home in time for supper. Those were the days, as they say…
