Chef Louie’s Returns To Mitchell With A Bigger Space For Prime Steaks And Special Occasions

I smell a road trip on the horizon, and not just any road trip, this is the kind where you’ll want to loosen your belt a notch before you even leave Sioux Falls.

A true Sioux Empire classic is getting a second act. Chef Louie’s, the iconic Mitchell supper club that’s been serving up steaks and special occasions for more than 70 years, is officially making a comeback.

According to Dakota News Now, the beloved restaurant, which has been closed since 2022 at its longtime home on Havens Avenue, is now breaking ground on a brand-new, 13,000-square-foot location on Mitchell’s northwest side, near the Highway 37 bypass and West 15th Street.

The Fredericksen family, longtime owners of Chef Louie’s, is teaming up with local developer Charles Mauszycki to bring the supper club back to life. Mauszycki told Dakota News Now that the idea had been simmering for a while, especially after the original location closed, calling the northwest side of Mitchell the perfect spot for its return…
