A true Sioux Empire classic is getting a second act. Chef Louie’s, the iconic Mitchell supper club that’s been serving up steaks and special occasions for more than 70 years, is officially making a comeback.
According to Dakota News Now, the beloved restaurant, which has been closed since 2022 at its longtime home on Havens Avenue, is now breaking ground on a brand-new, 13,000-square-foot location on Mitchell’s northwest side, near the Highway 37 bypass and West 15th Street.

The Fredericksen family, longtime owners of Chef Louie’s, is teaming up with local developer Charles Mauszycki to bring the supper club back to life.
