Ocala’s most famous resident, John Travolta, made a special appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, bringing along his newly awarded lifetime achievement Palme d’Or from the Cannes Film Festival.
Travolta, who piloted his own private jet on an 8.5-hour flight to France for the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, sat down with Jimmy Fallon to discuss the emotional surprise of receiving the prestigious honor and to share a scene from his new film, Propeller One-Way Night Coach.
During the late-night interview, Travolta revealed that the lifetime achievement award was a “complete secret” that Cannes festival director Thierry Fremaux had been planning for five months. According to Travolta, Fremaux watched the film, called it “perfect,” and broke precedent by accepting it as the festival’s first selection five months early.
“I cried,” Travolta told Fallon regarding Fremaux’s high praise. “I couldn’t believe that he felt that way, and I was just relieved and glad that he did.”…
