Shock and sadness settled over the community 10 years ago when Jamestown’s youngest patrolman, 24-year-old Ryan Bourque, was killed by a drunken driver on Interstate 95.
When Bourque left the station following his 3-11 p.m. shift, it was May 23, 2016, which marked his one-year anniversary as a police officer. Shortly after midnight, however, as he was driving home to Coventry, his Dodge Charger was involved in a head-on collision with a Massachusetts man who was traveling north in the southbound lane. Both men died.
