Man accused of threatening police ceremony released from custody

CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — The man accused of making social media threats directed at an upcoming police ceremony before causing an hours-long standoff last week faced a judge Wednesday afternoon.

Devan Garcia, 24, has been charged with felony assault with a dangerous weapon, six counts of possession of large-capacity feeding device, reckless driving and eluding law enforcement.

Garcia was arrested last Thursday after spending more than five hours barricaded inside his Brandon Road home.
