GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – A new Liberty Tree now stands at Pamperin Park as Brown County joins a nationwide effort leading up to America’s 250th birthday celebration this year.
Brown County leaders and members of the Sons of the American Revolution gathered Wednesday morning for the tree dedication ceremony, part of a national initiative to plant 250 Liberty Trees across the country before July 4, 2026.
According to members of the organization, Liberty Trees were symbolic gathering places during the American Revolution, where colonists would meet to protest British rule and organize support for independence.
“The liberty tree was where the Sons of the Revolution got together to protest,” Bob Haglund with the Sons of the American Revolution said. “It first started with the Stamp Act.”…
