Rockford Police Make Arrests After Mobil Gas Station Shooting

A late-night disturbance at a Rockford gas station ended with gunfire, injuries, and multiple arrests after police responded to reports of a shooting on the city’s north side.

Late-Night Shooting Investigation Unfolds in Rockford

According to the Rockford Police Department, officers were dispatched around 11:40 p.m. on Tuesday (5/19) to the Mobil gas station on Halsted Road for reports of a gunshot victim.

When officers arrived on the scene, they located a 25-year-old male suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was identified as Deonte Davis of Rockford.

According to the report, investigators said a physical altercation involving several individuals occurred before shots were fired.

Suspect Arrested Near Riverside and Main

Police said officers quickly identified and located the shooter, Douglas Plaxico, a 19-year-old from Rockford. He was found near West Riverside Boulevard and North Main Street and taken into custody without incident…
