Ribbon-cutting next week for new recovery housing in Battle Creek

BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Battle Creek Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Battle Creek will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony next Wednesday, May 27 at 11:30 a.m. for a newly rehabilitated five-unit apartment building at 614 NE Capital Avenue.

The city used a combination of federal Community Development Block Grant funds and locally controlled national opioid settlement funds to transform the long-vacant property into recovery housing. The $862,000 rehabilitation included $533,734 in CDBG funding and $328,266.47 in opioid settlement funds.
