Most of Central Texas and parts of South Texas, including the Austin and San Antonio metro areas, will be under a flood watch from Friday night to Monday night, the National Weather Service said Thursday. Forecasters cited worries about expected heavy rainfall during the Memorial Day weekend that could cause flash flooding.
The flood watch, which would begin at 7 p.m. Friday and end at 7 p.m. Monday, applies to these Austin metro area counties: Travis, Hays, Williamson, Bastrop and Caldwell.
