Thursday’s Five Facts
[1] Three dead, 18 first responders taken to the hospital after possible hazmat situation in Mountainair – A deadly hazmat situation in Torrance County has killed three people. Four people were found unresponsive inside a residence on Wednesday; three of them are dead from a suspected overdose. While responding, 18 first responders began experiencing symptoms and, along with the surviving person in the residence, were taken to the University of New Mexico Hospital for treatment.
[2] Governor issues drought executive order and New Mexico State Forester warns of campfire ban – Severe drought and fire danger have caused the state forestry division to place heavy restrictions on campsites going into Memorial Day weekend. The state has already seen several wildfires this year. With the drought elevating the danger, the state forestry division said campfires will not be allowed at any of their sites.
