Kalaeloa crash: Man charged with allegedly attempting to assault officers

HONOLULU (Island News) – Police charged a man and reclassified an attempted murder on a law enforcement officer case that occurred in Kalaeloa.

The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) charged 34-year-old Dane Lemes-Keller for the following offenses:

  • Criminal Property Damage in the First Degree
  • Attempted Assault Against a Law Enforcement Officer
  • Attempted Assault in the Second Degree
  • Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Third Degree
  • Unauthorized Control of a Propelled Vehicle (UCPV) in the First Degree
  • Terroristic Threatening in the First Degree

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 12:35 p.m. when officers responded to the scene to search for Lemes-Keller, who was wanted at the time.

It was reported that Lemes-Keller allegedly accelerated a vehicle towards the officers which caused them to take evasive action to avoid being struck. As a result of this, he collided with two police vehicles before being disabled…
