A Lady Lake woman was arrested after two toddlers in her care wandered near the street while her hair was being styled.
A driver and his son were headed home when they spotted two toddlers, a boy and a girl, standing along on the sidewalk near the Cove Apartments around 8:05 p.m. Saturday, May 16, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. They pulled over to care for the children while calling 911. Several neighborhood kids on bikes advised that 24-year-old Laurie Jovanovskie Balthazar was looking for the children outside.
Thirty minutes after the call, two women, including Balthazar, approached law enforcement at the scene. Balthazar had no idea how the toddlers got outside. She was also “asleep” when they got out, but other people were inside the residence, the report said.
Her companion stated she was worried about the children, and she was only at the apartment doing Balthazar’s hair. The report noted her hair was in disarray, with the front being in a “poof style” and the back being braided…
