CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WJAR) — A mother and her unborn child were saved by a new program in Cumberland which provides blood transfusions to hemorrhaging patients before they reach the hospital.
Cumberland EMS Chief Scott Dessert says on March 4, they “arrived on scene to find a critically ill pregnant patient suffering from hemorrhagic shock.”
He said responders from neighboring towns “worked together” to administer “whole blood in the field before the patient ever reached the hospital.”…
