Elkton man among 17 fallen Maryland service members slated for Memorial Day honors

ELKTON — There were signs of William “Will” Abel Wyman’s compassionate heart to ease the pain and suffering of others as far back as his childhood — long before the 2020 Tome School graduate would become U.S. Army 2nd Lt. William Abel Wyman.

“When he was in middle school, I used to find sketches in his notebook of military nurses,” recalled his mother Julianne Wyman, an orthodontist who lives near Elkton with her husband, John Wyman, a Tome School teacher, and two of their children, Abby, 19, and Pierce, 17.

It was telling that Wyman’s boyhood artistic works did not portray bloody battles but, rather, military nurses treating those wounded while fighting battles…
