Springville woman gets federal prison sentence for stealing $500K from employer

A Springville woman who stole more than $500,000 from a veteran-owned business she worked for in Marion will spend almost three and a half years in federal prison.

Debra Ann Vaughn, 67, was sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court. She pled guilty in December to one count of bank fraud.

Vaughn admits to taking the money over an eight-year span while working as a bookkeeper at the business and covering up that she was writing herself checks, forging signatures, and changing her own pay rate.
