Deadly Coal Mine Accident in China Leaves 90 Trapped Underground

Four people have died and 90 others remain trapped following an accident at the Liushenyu coal mine in northern China, according to Chinese state media reports.

The incident took place Friday night in Changzhi City. Authorities reported that carbon monoxide levels in the mine exceeded safe limits, posing serious risks to those underground.

At the time of the accident, 247 workers were inside the mine. So far, 157 miners have been safely brought to the surface, including the four who were confirmed deceased. Of the 90 still trapped underground, 16 are in critical condition.

Rescue teams continue their efforts to reach those remaining inside. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
