AfFORDable Pet Center celebrates 20 years with farm animals, friends & fun

AfFORDable Pet Center celebrated 20 years in the community with a good old-fashioned hoedown on May 16, bringing together friends, families and plenty of furry friends for a day of fun.

The Northampton pet center was founded by Mary Ellen and Bill Ford in 2006. Over the past two decades, the Ford family and their staff have become a trusted resource for pet owners seeking food, toys and specialized care and advice for their beloved animals.

The anniversary celebration featured food, farm animals and more than 100 raffle baskets donated by residents and local businesses. Prizes included local gift cards, pet supplies, home décor, children’s toys and more, offering something for every member of the family. (Pets included!)

Proceeds from the raffle went to DeWeather Cares Inc., a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit that responds to natural disasters across the country, providing care kits for families and their pets.

Giving back has become a tradition for the Ford family, who use each anniversary celebration to support organizations making a difference in the community. In previous years, the store has partnered with animal rescues and other nonprofit groups.

Guests also had the opportunity to meet farm animals from the Northampton County 4-H Club, including cows, piglets, rabbits and goats. Foxy’s Cradle mobile unit attended the event as well, introducing their adoptable kittens to potential forever families. Ford said the rescue plans to visit the store monthly…
