ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.— The upcoming nightly closures of the westbound Gandy Boulevard entrance ramp onto southbound I-275 are part of a major regional construction project designed to expand the interstate and introduce tolled express lanes in Pinellas County.
The project will widen I-275 to add two tolled express lanes in each direction from north of 38th Avenue North to south of Gandy Boulevard. Additionally, crews will construct one extra tolled express lane from south of Gandy Boulevard to north of 4th Street North, bringing that section to a total of two express lanes in each direction.
Beyond lane expansion, the construction initiative brings significant interchange modifications to several major local corridors, including 38th Avenue North, 54th Avenue North, Gandy Boulevard, and Roosevelt Boulevard.
