COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – On the Augusta Canal, they’ve heard about it, but many are not sure if they like it.“No, not really. It’s a community event, and it should be for everyone,” said Mike Halleran. The decision to give first dibs to Columbia County residents for Boom in the Park has some in Augusta thinking about the need to respond accordingly.
“Don’t let them come into that little event we have in April,” said Lee Powell.Many Columbia County residents got on the canal at Savannah Rapids, and they remember when this gate was locked due to Hurricane damage.
“It was closed for so long. It was really disappointing. It took so long to get it back open,” said Molly Blumenthal.It is the Augusta Canal, and all that hurricane damage is on Augusta.
