Auburn dominant over Aggies to advance to Saturday in Hoover

Friday night was a night of making history for the 6-seed Auburn Tigers (38-18) as they shut out the powerful Texas A&M Aggies 7-0 to advance to the semifinals of the SEC Tournament for the first time since 2003. Coach Butch Thompson’s team advances to face Arkansas on Saturday after the Razorbacks beat Texas to make it to the weekend.

The story of the night once again for Auburn was the pitching, this time from starter Andreas Alvarez and freshman reliever LJ Cormier. The duo combined to allow just two hits and strike out 13 Aggies. It was the first time Texas A&M has been shut out since April of 2025 and it was a night they’ll remember.

“It was awesome,” Alvarez said of the night. “I mean, once again, our offense got out early and we were obviously able to compete and pitch. And then LJ coming in for four innings after me is legit, especially as a freshman.”…
