2-year-old bear released back into the wild in the hills above Washoe Valley

WASHOE VALLEY, Nev. (KOLO) – A 2-year-old female bear that was wandering around West Reno on Thursday, May 21, was safely released back into the wild on Friday in the hills above Washoe Valley, according to a Nevada Department of Wildlife news release.

Biologists and game wardens assisted with the release using Karelian Bear Dogs, a non-lethal wildlife management tool that reinforces a bear’s natural fear of people and urban areas.

The bear was not injured during the incident…
