State reallocates funding intended for I-77 South toll project after city leaders withdrew support

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Following the Charlotte regional transportation board’s decision to withdraw support for the Interstate 77 South toll lanes project, the state is removing its allocated funding.

Earlier this week, the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization (CRTPO) voted to rescind its support for the public-private partnership (P3) of the $3 billion project. This comes after the Charlotte City Council narrowly pulled its approval.
