San Francisco’s Portola Music Festival announces first big act

The Portola Music Festival, San Francisco’s premiere electronic music event, has let the cat out of the bag — or rather, according to their branding, the raccoon out of the trash can.

Taking place September 26 and 27, the event is booked by Coachella promoters Goldenvoice, bringing several stages of dance music to Pier 80. The bookings tend to be less on the EDM side of the spectrum than a festival like Electric Daisy Carnival, leaning more towards trending left-of-center DJs like Horsegiirl, classic acts like Fatboy Slim and indie dance bands like LCD Soundsystem. The festival’s mascot is a mischievous raccoon.

One of the signature stages is simply dubbed “The Warehouse,” a massive hanger space with a reputation for hosting some of the heavier DJ sets of the weekend. Via a series of posters, it appears that we now know one of the bigger acts playing this stage.

Wheatpasted posters in San Francisco show a photo of Marlon Hoffstadt, aka DJ Daddy Trance, alongside the phrase “Don’t tell Mommy. Daddy’s in SF.” In smaller text, it states that Hoffstadt will be performing in the warehouse. The posters don’t mention Portola by name, but feature the signature blue-ish purple color scheme and an illustration of a raccoon next to a disco ball. Goldenvoice could not be reached for confirmation by time of publication, but Hoffsttadt also posted a photo of the image from his personal Reddit account…
