A New Yorker wanted on a warrant was arrested at a restaurant in Wildwood.
Joseph Arthur Kelder, 23, of Congers, N.Y., was driving a white Mazda at about 10:30 p.m. May 18 on State Road 44 near its intersection with Interstate 75 when he was pulled over because a check of the Florida license plate showed the registered owner did not have a driver’s license, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A traffic stop was initiated in the parking lot of the Hardee’s restaurant on State Road 44.
Kelder presented the deputy with a New York driver’s license and claimed the vehicle he was driving was a rental. The deputy ran the driver’s license and learned that Kelder was wanted on a Hillsborough County warrant charging him with fleeing to elude law enforcement and reckless driving.
