STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Families from across Staten Island gathered Saturday despite rainy conditions, to celebrate culture, faith and community during the annual Egyptian Coptic Festival hosted by Our Lady of Zeitoun Coptic Orthodox Church on Todt Hill Road.
The festival, which continued through Memorial Day weekend and was scheduled to return the following weekend, welcomed visitors with free admission, authentic Egyptian and Middle Eastern cuisine, family entertainment and cultural exhibits highlighting the traditions of the Coptic Orthodox faith.
Although rain limited some outdoor attractions, organizers and volunteers said the event still fulfilled its larger purpose: bringing people together and opening the church’s doors to the wider Staten Island community…
