ATHENS, Texas (KETK) — After falling behind 3-0 early, the Hallsville softball team couldn’t come back, losing 6-2 to the Brewer Lady Bears in game two of their 5A-D2 state semifinal series on Saturday.
Avery Welch put Brewer up 3-0 on her two-run home run in the top of the third before Hallsville’s Erin Terry line out to right but drove in Heidi Hart on the RBI sac fly to cut it to a 3-1 game.
Then, Brewer scored an additional three runs in the top of the fourth to go up 6-1, and despite Mackenzie Griffin’s solo homer in the bottom of the seventh, the Ladycats couldn’t make up the deficit, falling 6-2…
