Auburn celebrates state champion Jaeda Benford

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – The community celebrated history after Jaeda Benford captured the Class 3A state championship in the high jump at the IHSA Girls Track and Field State Finals.

Benford cleared 1.74 meters, or 5 feet and 8 and a half inches, to secure the state title and become the first Auburn Knight to win a state championship in the event.

The title marked culmination of years of hard work for Benford, who qualified for the state finals three times so far during her high school career…
