ECU advances to American title game with 13-3 win over Wichita State

It took a little longer than they would have liked, but the East Carolina Pirates are heading back to the American Conference championship game.

With its back against the wall, ECU took down Wichita State with relative ease on Saturday night inside BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater, Fla., run-ruling the Shockers 13-3 in eight innings to invoke a rematch with UTSA.

Sunday’s 12 noon ET first pitch will be a winner-take-all for the league title and automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. UTSA defeated ECU 4-2 on Saturday morning to get to the championship with a 2-0 record this week.
