A 41-year-old man was sentenced to 96 years in prison last Friday, May 22, for holding a woman in captivity and assaulting her in 2021. Tory Hammond was convicted by a jury for illegally restraining his girlfriend against her will, including brutal physical and sexual assault that lasted for several hours.
“I didn’t think I was going to make it out of this alive,” the victim told the judge during Thursday’s sentencing. “When this happened, part of me was taken that I’ll never get back.”
The incident occurred on October 12, 2021 when Weld County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of suspicious activity shortly after 6 a.m. The individual who reported the activity stopped to help the victim, who was walking down Weld County Road 6 naked and with chains wrapped around her neck and arms.
